Other Stories and Writing

Like Anthologies? My short fiction, poetry, and photography has been featured in quite a few. Here are eight of them. Just as I have copies of Shay the Brave you can purchase directly from me (autographed, if you like), I also have some of these, though not many.

Contact me if you have trouble finding copies for purchase elsewhere or if you desire one of these anthologies to be personally autographed just for you or someone you love. Prices vary.

Published by Shepherd University. You’ll find my work in the most recent three volumes beginning with this, Vol. XIV, . the Marie Manilla edition (includes my short fiction, Vanity), followed by Vol. XV, the Barbara Kingsolver edition (includes two of my poems and my prize-winning photograph, Memories of a Lost Childhood), and now out is Vol. XVI, the Ann Pancake edition (includes my story, Mother, May I? which won the 2023 West Virginia Fiction Competition, as well as five of my photographs).

Copies are often challenging to obtain but can usually be ordered through Four Seasons Books in Shepherdstown, WV. Previous editions were edited by Ron Rash, Crystal Wilkinson, Frank X. Walker, & many other highly regarded Appalachian writers. Playwright & author, DW Gregory is also featured in this volume (shown), having won the  2021 West Virginia Fiction Competition.

From Wild Ink Publishing, LLC., this collection centered on the theme of banned books is due out later this year. Watch for pre-purchase announcements at the Wild Ink website (includes my story, The Tinker).

YA Horror Collection. Twenty-two authors and poets ask what makes someone a villain. Are they truly villains or simply misunderstood? The stories and poetry will terrify you, make you laugh, and ask you to ponder villainy in a new light. You’ll go to war, have a conversation with death, and be invited into the mind of a criminal. Witches will beg for your attention. Bloody Mary will tap on your mirror. And you will come to realize appearance isn’t everything. Always remember, you’re the villain in someone’s story (Includes my story A Night In the Shining Armoire).
